Friday afternoons are always a bit hectic. It’s a cusp time; the end of the week and the start of the weekend. I pick up my daughter from school, I get ready for a photo shoot. I shut down the week and prepare for the weekend. I have a session tonight (it’s going to be a GOOD ONE!!) and a wedding next weekend, so I’m looking at some busy times. But the next couple of hours will be a bit of a lull. The kids are outside enjoying the sunshine. I could do more laundry, I could clean another bathroom. I have been uploading weddings and there’s basically no end to that.
Today I was having brunch with my friend Chelsea from The Blushing Bride and we were talking about a great number of things around wedding photography and our businesses (she’s even newer to Tofino and Ucluelet than I am, and she’s going to completely kill it at weddings) and I found myself thinking about Nic. That might sound a bit strange, but I often think of Nic, especially when looking into the future and not knowing what to expect. I think of Nic when I need to remind myself that life is beautiful. I think of Nic when I need a smile.
I believe in treating others with kindness and honesty. I believe that people have good intentions, unless they prove otherwise. I believe in trusting others without proof or reason. I believe that you get what you give.
If you followed me before my move out to BC, you’ve seen these photos before. But my old blog and website are out of order, and I think these need to live on forever.
Rest in peace, Nic. You were sunshine on a cloudy day.
